What Anger Is Really Trying to Tell You:

A Holistic Perspective on Emotional Tolerance

Prefer to listen rather than read?  I’ve recorded this blog for you on YouTube.  You’re welcome ;P

From Physical Tolerances to Emotional Truths

Last week, we looked at what we’re physically tolerating — broken, cluttered, “make-do” items that reflect the energetic signals we’re unconsciously sending to the Universe. You decluttered, noticed, and even downloaded the Tolerances Planner to begin shifting what no longer supports you.

This week, we’re going deeper — from the outer world into the inner.
We’re tuning into our emotional guidance system — especially the role of one powerful, often misunderstood emotion that tends to surface when we’re truly ready for change:

Anger.

Because it’s one thing to overlook a broken cupboard door.
It’s another to overlook your own emotional truth.

Emotions as a Guidance System

Your emotions are more than reactions — they are your soul’s GPS. They help you discern whether you are moving toward or away from the life you desire. And when you start to feel anger or rage bubbling to the surface, it often means this:

You are no longer willing to tolerate what doesn’t serve you.

“Anger isn’t bad — it’s sacred.”
For years, I misunderstood anger. I thought it meant I was out of control, dramatic, or unforgiving.

There is strength in accepting it and moving on.

And as women — especially mothers — we’re often conditioned to suppress it.
But here’s the truth:

Anger is a catalyst for change.

When we say, “I’m done. I can’t tolerate this anymore,”
that’s the voice of anger.
Not as destruction — but as transformation.
It’s our body’s way of saying:
❝ This no longer fits who I am becoming. ❞

Anger isn’t shameful or destructive. When expressed healthily, it’s sacred. It marks the tipping point between suppression and self-respect. It tells us: I don’t want this any longer.

We suppress it because society tells us it’s not “pretty,” or because we’re tired, or because we pride ourselves on being “strong” and unaffected. Society tells us, “It shows weakness if we can’t control our anger” (This mentality needs to change…but that’s for another blog!! 😊)

But what happens when we keep pushing it down?

We stay stuck in sadness, exhaustion, illness, or overwhelm.

My Personal Story: “My skin taught me what I was burying.”

Years ago, I experienced eczema so severe it left me raw — physically and emotionally.

Recently I was reminded of this time when having a conversation with a friend outside the local IGA. I’d recommended a Chinese herbalist who had helped me clear my severe eczema years ago. Her partner’s eczema, once severe, had improved dramatically within a few months of treatment from my recommended practitioner. But occasionally, it still returned.

For me, the herbs helped clear my skin. But the transformation came when I acknowledged what I had buried.
What I had tolerated.
And I’ve seen the same pattern in others:
Treat the surface, and it returns.
Heal the root, and you shift for good.

We both agreed: while the cream helps manage symptoms, the root cause goes deeper. I shared how I no longer get eczema since I started paying attention to the metaphysical root of the condition.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, skin conditions are a sign of an overheating liver.  (I still recall Dr Wolffe telling me in his Chinese accent at my first consult, “Internal heat. Internal heat.”) The liver is responsible for eliminating toxins – not just physical toxins, but emotional toxins too. The liver processes or stores anger, rage, and resentment when suppressed.  I likened my eczema to a toasted marshmallow – crusty on the outside, but mushy on the inside.

When I learned to stop suppressing my anger and started honouring it, I noticed major shifts in both my body and my life. Not because I exploded with rage, but because I allowed myself to feel what I’d been trying to avoid. To let it move through me.

To be honest, I actually didn’t even realise I was suppressing anger because I just got on with life.  This process of unmasking what I’d suppressed after years of toxicity in my past relationship was eye-opening to say the least.  To this day, I rarely ever get eczema and if I do, I treat it through feeling and healing, rarely needing cream.

“We tolerate emotions we don’t feel safe to express.”

We say we’re “fine” when we’re crumbling.
We stay “strong” when we need to break down.
We suppress anger — because it’s easier to stay numb or sad.
But when we feel the emotion fully, it moves.
When we tolerate it, it stagnates.
That’s why attuned self-care isn’t just a face mask and tea.
It’s space.
To feel.
To process.
To unbury what’s been ignored.

The Emotional Guidance Scale: A Map Toward Flow

This is where the Emotional Guidance Scale comes in.

This tool is a map of vibrational emotions, ranging from low-vibrational (like despair or powerlessness) to high-vibrational (like joy and empowerment). Where you are on this scale shows your current relationship to resistance or allowance.

Anger is a powerful spark that fires up the breakthrough — the shift from suffering into flow:

Powerlessness → Grief → Anger → Courage → Hope → Empowerment

On the vibrational scale, anger sits higher than depression or despair.
Why?
Because anger means we’re waking up.
We’re reclaiming power.
So if you feel angry — that’s not a failure of your healing.
That’s your signal.
You’re ready to rise.
Use that fire as fuel — not for destruction, but for direction.

When you feel anger rising, it’s a sign you’re no longer in tolerance. You’re closer to courage than you realise. Anger is often the first step toward reclaiming your voice, energy, and truth.

It is the fire that clears the space for your next chapter.
