Finding Your Flow:

A Gentle Path from Overwhelm to Empowerment

Have you ever felt like you’re doing all the things and yet… nothing feels like it’s working?

You’re not alone.
In fact, this is one of the most common things I hear from the beautiful women in this community — especially mums who are juggling homes, emotions, responsibilities, and the deep, quiet ache of wanting something more aligned.

They’ve tried systems. Decluttering hacks. To-do lists.
They’ve tried pushing through, being grateful, or telling themselves “it’s not that bad.”

But when we’re out of flow, even the smallest tasks can feel like a battle.

It’s not because we’re broken.
It’s because we’re moving against our natural rhythm instead of with it.

So What Is Flow?

Flow is that feeling when your energy, your environment, and your actions are all moving in harmony.

It’s not about perfection.
It’s about alignment.
It’s when your outer world and inner world are speaking the same language.

Think of it like a river — when the current is clear, everything moves with ease. But when the path is blocked with debris, the water gets stuck, stagnant, or spills in the wrong direction. That’s often what’s happening in our lives, too.

What Is Flow, Energetically Speaking?

In Feng Shui, the concept of flow is known as Chi (also spelled Qi) — the vital life-force energy that moves through your home, body, living & non-living elements and the heavens too. When your Chi flows freely, you feel lighter, clearer, and more supported by your environment. But when that flow is blocked — by clutter, emotional build-up, or energetic misalignment — it creates stagnation, heaviness, or resistance.

This is why creating flow in your space isn’t just about aesthetics — it’s a deeply energetic practice. Feng Shui helps us tune in, clear those blocks, and realign with our natural rhythm. It’s about creating harmony between your inner and outer world, so you’re not just surviving in your space… you’re being supported and uplifted by it.

Signs You Might Be Out of Flow

  • You feel constantly tired or overwhelmed — even after a full night’s sleep.
  • Your home feels heavy, cluttered, or chaotic (even when it’s tidy).
  • You’re always busy but rarely feel like you’re moving forward.
  • You’re reactive — snapping, shutting down, or zoning out — more than you’d like.
  • You crave peace and clarity… but don’t know where to start.

What Being In Flow Feels Like

When you’re in flow, things don’t feel perfect — they feel possible.

Life softens. It feels lighter, more spacious, and a little more magical. You’re no longer forcing things to happen — you’re moving with life, not against it.

Here’s how you might recognise you’re aligned:

  • You feel emotionally lighter, even if life is still full.

  • Life feels simpler and easier — events line up effortlessly, and ideas flow in with clarity.

  • You’re more present, grounded, and calm in your responses.

  • Your space begins to reflect your inner calm, rather than your chaos.

  • Time seems to slow down, and the beauty around you becomes more noticeable.

  • Little signs, synchronicities, and nudges from the Universe start showing up.

  • You feel more hopefuloptimistic and trusting, even without certainty.

  • You trust your next step, even if you don’t yet see the full path.

  • It becomes easier to maintain a clean, organised home.

  • Tension with loved ones softens — there’s more grace in your relationships.

Being in flow is about coming home to your natural energetic rhythm — where you’re no longer pushing or pulling, but responding in harmony with life.

A friend once joked that they were “doing a Lauren,” because they’d seen time and time again that when I’m in flow, things just work out. The right people show up, the next step becomes clear, and life begins to support you in beautiful, unexpected ways.

Recognising When You Are In Flow

When you’re exploring the energy of being in flow and alignment for the first time, it can be helpful to know what to look for. Here’s what helps me — kind of like a personal diagnostic tool:

I tune in to my emotions.
Higher vibrational emotions like joy, acceptance, passion, and hope are signs that I’m in flow. They tell me I’m in allowance rather than resistance. Even anger can be a positive sign — it often signals that I’m ready to change what’s keeping me stuck. It’s a shift from powerlessness into movement.

I tune in to my environment.
When I walk into a space and it feels light, fresh, airy, and inviting, I know I’m in flow. On the other hand, mess — especially where it consistently gathers — is a message. It’s not there to shame you! It’s simply a gentle call to reflect on where resistance might be showing up in your life. Often, it points to a need for self-care. When I give myself what I truly need, I’m naturally inspired to clear, organise, and enhance that space. That little spark of inspiration? That’s flow returning.

I tune in to my energy.
When I’m in flow, my energy and motivation spike. Tasks that once felt heavy or frustrating get done quickly — sometimes effortlessly — and often better than I expected. It almost feels like an out-of-body experience when I look back at how easily it all came together. That’s inspired action. The opposite? A sluggish, foggy, hibernating version of me that tries to push through but gets nowhere.

I tune in to my body.
My body speaks volumes about whether I’m in flow or resistance. When I feel contraction, tension, or stress — like a tight chest, a racing heart, stiff shoulders, lower back pain, or even little accidents like stubbing my toe — it’s a sign fear is running the show. These physical cues are my body’s way of saying I’m stuck in resistance. But when I’m in flow, my body just is — doing its thing effortlessly, without needing my attention. There’s a sense of ease, trust, and presence. Any sense of dis-ease becomes a gentle messenger nudging me back toward alignment and flow.

I tune in to how I’m connecting with others.
If I feel drawn to connect with my tribe — my family, friends, or soul-aligned people — I know I’m in flow. (I’m an introvert, so this may show up differently for extroverts.) When I’m aligned, being around others lifts me up. There’s something energising about rising together.

I’ve spent years reconnecting with myself after losing so much of who I was — decades in a toxic relationship and pouring everything into motherhood. So I know this doesn’t always come easy, especially if you’re new to this kind of attunement. But it’s worth it. Truly. Getting to a place of self-mastery — where you’re attuned to yourself and your space, prioritising self-care based on what you actually need — is what allows you to feel the shift into flow, alignment, and ease.
